Happy 4th of July!

For everyone in the USA, happy 4th!  For everyone else in the world, happy Saturday!  So here's another quilt of mine.  It's an applique quilt with blocks from "Circles of the East" by Kumiko Sudo.  I'm not really sure what year I completed this other than probably in the mid 2000s.   I didn't put any batting in it, hoping to use it more as a blanket than actual quilt so it's not actually quilted or anything, though it is finished with a backing.  Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Something a little different!

So I thought I'd post another project of mine that's a little different.  This was a cross stitch project I did a few years ago for my brother and sister in law's wedding.  The original pattern is from Soda Stitch out of South Korea and I changed the bottom of her dress from pink to blue to match the wedding colors.  One of my favorite things I've done!

Another old quilt!

So I'm not exactly sure when I did this, probably early to mid 2000s.  I was really interested in applique at the time and fell in love with the dolphins.  I remember spending a lot of time cutting out all the parts to applique really carefully and then working with my mom to place them just right.  Instead of quilting it, we beaded it, hence the random beads placed all over.

My first quilt!

So not only is this the first quilt I'm posting, but it's the first quilt I ever made back in high school (I graduated in 1999).  It's tied, not quilted and there's the obvious mess-up in the top right corner that I didn't even notice til I took the picture about a month ago!  It was on my bed for years until it was in pretty nasty shape recently so I put it into retirement with a few other quilts I have that I'll share later.

Welcome!

So hi there!  I'm an assistant teacher out of Lakeland, FL.  For those who don't know, that's smack dab between Tampa and Orlando.  I'm not married but have two furry kids, Moshi and Benjamin, my two kitties.  Here's Benjamin, I'll post a picture of Moshi when I get a good photo of her.  Weird story, I got him at work.  He was a stray following people around!  I took him straight to the vet after work since I have another cat, where I got this picture of him blissfully being scratched by the vet tech!

I've been quilting and cross stitching for years now, though these days I'm leaning far more towards quilting because I love the freedom you have with it, versus cross stitch where it's far more structured.

Over the next few days I'll post some pictures of what I've done and what I'm working on currently!
